FAQ: Do You Outsource Copywriting?

T never outsource copywriting. While I admit that I'm not the best copywriter in the vicinity, although a fat learner, my clients hire me because I used to be a buyer, thus I used to read these sales messages. As a result, I learnt how buyers think and make decisions.

And for this reason, I write every single letter for my copywriting engagements because I know how they get read and interpreted.

I also make an ethical issue of it. Clients hire me and expect me to do the writing. How can I hand over the ready copy to them and accept their compliments with a straight face, knowing that it was someone else who's written the pieces?

No, I write every word.

But after writing I hand over my masterpiece to a professional editor with an English Major (Cambridge University, Cambridge, UK) and many years of editing under her belt. She reviews my work for style and grammar to make sure my clients get the best work.

British English, also called as Queens English or Received English is important for me, because that's the real language, and everything else is just a bastardisation of the language.

And once we have the correct English, we can adjust it to the country where it's going to be used.

But it's a good idea to start at the highest level.

For this reason, I'm not the fastest writer and hardly ever take on emergency engagements.

Day #1: Edit #1

Day #2: Rest

Day #3: Edit #2

Day #4: Rest

Day #5: Edit #3

Day #6: Return copy to me, and I send it to the client

Rest just means that you have to let the copy "age" between two editing session, otherwise you can easily overlook errors.
